Jessica Sloan
Para Swimming Athlete- Inducted 2022
Calgary’s Jessica Sloan was one of the rare athletes with a disability to receive Canadian Junior Athlete of the year at the Canadian Sports Awards. On the National team she was a leader in getting swimmers to focus not only on their place in the para-swimming world but also challenge themselves against their able-bodied counterparts. She went on to compete in the IPC world championships in Christchurch and won five gold as an individual and in relay, three of them world records. It was then off to Sydney in 2000 for the Paralympics where she won three gold medals and another three with her team, all of them world records Shortly after in 2001 she retired after 3 years on the national team to pursue her studies. Jessica now resides in the Turks and Caicos and is now a full-time swimming coach and part of the country’s national team staff.
