Daryl began his writing and reporting career at the Calgary Herald and has covered amateur, high school, post-secondary, national, international, Olympic and professional sport. He has written comprehensive books from the complete history of the Stampeders to the biography of Ezzrett (Sugarfoot) Anderson, a star player from the late 1940s to mid-1950s inductee Alberta Sports Hall of Fame 2010. Nicknamed the pigskin packrat, Daryl’s extensive collection of Stampeder and Canadian Football memorabilia is the most comprehensive of its kind in Canada. He has provided artifacts for display to Canada’s Sport hall of Fame, The Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum, the Calgary Stampeder Football Club, and our own Alberta Sports hall of Fame. Considered to be the foremost Football statistician in the Country Daryl has achieved legendary status across the CFL. His volunteerism and work won him numerous awards and in 2020 was recognized by the Calgary Booster Club in the “Special Achievement Media Category” for his support of Football in the amateur, high school, university and professional levels.
