Steve Fallwell

Steve Fallwell made significant contributions to amateur and community sport throughout Lethbridge and southern Alberta through broadcasting, event leadership, and volunteer service. Known for his strong community presence and enthusiasm for grassroots athletics, he became one of the region’s most recognizable voices in sport promotion.

For nearly three decades, Fallwell provided extensive on-air coverage of local sport, ensuring that minor, high school, collegiate, and university athletics received consistent media attention. As the longtime public address announcer and “voice of the Lethbridge Hurricanes,” he called more than 1,300 Western Hockey League games, helping connect fans with junior hockey in southern Alberta.

Beyond broadcasting, Fallwell actively supported community sport through event organization, fundraising, and emceeing duties. His involvement extended across numerous sporting events and organizations, reflecting a deep commitment to athlete development and volunteerism.

He served on organizing and support committees for major events including the 1995 Canada Winter Games, the Scott Tournament of Hearts, the Sutter Golf Classic, and many regional golf tournaments, baseball leagues, and curling bonspiels.

Widely respected for his willingness to go beyond expectations, Fallwell consistently supported athletes and sport organizations at every level of competition, helping strengthen the amateur sport community throughout Lethbridge and surrounding areas.
