Margaret Scott

Synchronized Swimming Builder - Inducted 1976

Margaret Scott has been actively involved with synchro swimming since 1960 and in her younger years swam with the Royal Life Saving Society Synchronized team. She organized and coached the swimming program at the Calgary Winter Club for ten years. Margaret Scott also coached the Canadian diving team during their tour of South America and was the speed swimming team's assistant manager at the Pan American Games in Columbia. As a nationally rated judge, she trains both coaches and judges. Margaret Scott has served on many executives and committees in the aquatics field and has received several awards for her work, including the Rose Kohn Memorial Award in 1969.

After Induction

Marg was a member of Vancouver's first Synchronized Swimming Team and has participated in the sport as an athlete, coach, and judge almost all her entire life. 

She has been recognized for her tremendous contributions to sport and community many times including:

  •  Rose Kohn Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to Sport

  • Henry Viney Award for Calgary Sportswoman of the Year for Outstanding Dedication

1976    Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

  • Queen's 25th Anniversary Medal for Dedication to Sports

  • YMCA Volunteer Award, Government of Alberta Achievement Award for Service

1981    Calgary Booster Club Athletic Leadership Award

  • Her Majesty's Confederation Medal

  • numerous Synchro Canada awards

1994     - Calgary Booster Club Sportsman of the Year

1987 (97?) - Sport Volunteer Recognition Award - Alberta Recreation and Parks Sports Award
