Frank Miles
Amateur Athletic Union/Boxing Builder — Inducted 1982
Frank Miles played a significant leadership role in the development and growth of amateur boxing in Lethbridge and across Alberta for more than four decades. Through his dedication as an organizer, administrator, and trainer, he helped establish strong foundations for amateur boxing programs and athlete development within the province.
Miles founded the Lethbridge Boxing Club and served the organization as both a trainer and administrator for 30 years. Under his leadership, the club became an important centre for amateur boxing in southern Alberta, providing opportunities for athletes to develop their skills and compete at higher levels.
In addition to his work at the club level, Miles made extensive contributions to provincial sport administration. He served as the Lethbridge Registrar for the Alberta Amateur Athletic Union for 27 years and was a member of the organization’s boxing committee for two decades. His long-standing involvement helped support the organization and regulation of amateur boxing competitions throughout Alberta.
Miles also served eight terms as Secretary-Treasurer of the Alberta Amateur Athletic Union from 1952 to 1959, playing a key role in strengthening amateur sport governance during a period of growth and development.
