Christine Hampshire
Synchronized Swimming Builder - Inducted 2011
Christine Hampshire has been involved in synchronized swimming for more than 30 years. She started as synchro “mom” and worked her way up to being a Level-4 referee and Level-5 judge. She has officiated provincially, nationally and internationally as well as teaching judging courses during this time. She founded Killarney Synchro, a “B” Club in Calgary and was the head coach until 1985. Christine has been on the Synchro Alberta Board since 1980 and completed a five year term as president in 2009. She leaves a rich legacy in this province of developing athletes at all levels from recreation to National Teams.
It would be difficult to count the number of events Chris has run, number of meetings she has attended, and the number of athletes and coaches she has supported at the local, provincial, national and international levels. As a judge, she is clear, concise and thoughtful and she has written many technical papers and revised national rule books. Christine received the Synchro Canada Certificate of Merit in 1991 and their Silver Pin in 1996. Synchro Alberta named Christine Volunteer of the Year in 2007.
