Johnny Smith won seven Alberta boxing championships from 1924 to 1931. He won the 70 lb. title in 1924; the 80 lb. title in 1926; the 90 lb. title in 1927; the 100 lb. championships in 1928 and 1929; the 112 lb. title in 1930; and the 118 lb. title in 1931. He represented Alberta at the British Empire Games Trials in 1930.
