Dianne Sharkey won a gold medal in the 100m backstroke at the 1973 Pan American Games. At the 1975 Pan American Games, she won bronze medals in swim relays, javelin, and basketball, and gold medals in backstroke, individual medley, and freestyle swimming. At the 1975 Canadian Championships, Dianne Sharkey won gold medals in backstroke, individual medley, relays, and freestyle.
