Doreen Ryan
Speed Skating Athlete - Inducted 1974
Doreen Ryan is one of Canada's outstanding speed skaters. She won the Canadian Senior Championships nine times between 1951 and 1963. Doreen competed in two North American Championships, finishing first in 1952 and second in 1962. She was a member of the Canadian Olympic Speed Skating Team in 1960 and 1964. She has won numerous provincial speed skating championships as well. Doreen Ryan is the first woman inducted into the Edmonton Sports Hall of Fame.

1993 - YWCA Tribute to Women Award
1995 - University of Alberta Wall of Fame
2005 - Alberta Centennial Salute for Sport and Recreation Award (1 of 100)
2010 - Final torchbearer for Edmonton leg of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay
