Blaine Pederson

Blaine Pederson started his rodeo career at a very young age. In 1982, Blaine won the Rookie of the Year award and also his first Canadian Steer Wrestling title. Blaine Pederson also competed in calf roping and team roping but it was in steer wrestling that he excelled. As a steer wrestler, Blaine competed at the Canadian Finals Rodeo 15 times and the National Finals Rodeo five times. Blaine won four Canadian Steer Wrestling Championships, two Canadian High Point Championships, the Calgary Stampede $50,000 title in 1988 and 1991, and twice was the NFR Steer Wrestling Average, Winner. The highlight of his career came in 1994 when he captured the World Championship Steer Wrestling title.
Known for his outstanding ability, sportsmanship, personality, and contributions to the betterment of rodeo, in 1988 Blaine Pederson was awarded the Calgary Stampede's Guy Weadick Award. In 1988, he was awarded the prestigious C.P.R.A. Cowboy of the Year Award. Blaine Pederson continues to give back to the sport of rodeo as a role model through coaching and teaching young steer wrestlers in their pursuit of excellence.

Blaine received the Calgary Stampede Pioneers of Rodeo Award at a ceremony on July 8, 2019.
